I've been a photographer for about forty years, and never cease to learn new skills or discover techniques I can apply to my craft.

Beginners first learning how to take photographs can glean some helpful tips here, but are strongly encouraged to read my section on practicing photography. In there, you'll learn as much as you might get from an expensive photography workshop or class. Also, don't hesitate to buy a few books or magazines. For a fraction of what you paid for your camera, you'll be able to appreciate and study the work of great photographers, and learn how to do things with your camera that you wouldn't have considered otherwise.

A Better Selection at a Better Price!

Landscape photography is one subcategory of outdoor or nature photography. Wildlife and macro photography are a couple of others. Though some suggest you concentrate on one style to get better at it, I'm from the school that believes in "cross-training," and find that practicing one skill often helps improve other related skills. The photography techniques you develop for wildlife shots may help you in your landscape photos, for example.
