RAW Software - for converting RAW images

RAW software is used to process uncompressed RAW image files and convert them to jpg, tiff, or other formats. When you "shoot in RAW," the image file contains much more information, and has been far less processed, than when you shoot in jpeg mode. Increasingly popular with both pros and serious amateurs, RAW photography allows you to change important aspects of the photos, such as while balance, after you take the shots. Because the processing is being done on your computer, and not in your camera, you have far more control and ability to create great images.

Because they're uncompressed, RAW files are much larger than jpg files. Common extensions for RAW files include .cr2, .crw, .dng, .nef, .orf, .pef, .raf .sr2, .srf, and .tif. You can view your RAW images in Windows 7 if you have the proper codec installed. Workflow and RAW converters also let you view your images. Adobe's Photoshop and Lightroom, Bibble, PhaseOne, and even Picasa can view and convert RAW files.
