Snow-covered Colorado Landscape

Colorado Winter Landscape

Colorado Winter Landscape

Snowscape? Winterscape? I took this winter landscape photograph while snowshoeing this past weekend. The fragile wind-sculpted ridges made for a great foreground element, while the soft shapes formed by the gully make a great middle-ground point of focus. I didn't use a polarizing filter - the sky is really that blue!

For much of the winter, most of my photos have been horizontal, but this scene really lent itself to a vertical orientation (the way I take most of my summer landscapes).
